All of Abiding Care’s services are offered free-of-charge to our clients. We fundraise year-round to keep it this way. No insurance is taken, so there is no need to bring your card. We know you have enough on your mind right now without having to worry about bills! So come in, take a load off – your generous community has paid the bill!
Absolutely! You bring anyone you feel will be a good support to you, whether it’s a trusted friend, partner, or parent or grandparent. If you don’t feel comfortable bringing anyone with you, that’s okay too. There is a great group of people here that is ready to support you as much as you need.
That usually depends on the type of services you receive. A positive pregnancy test with an ultrasound can take 1.5-2 hours. A negative test will be much less. Education classes are usually an hour. If you are pressed for time, please be sure to let us know immediately and we will do our best to accommodate you!
Not at all! We serve clients from all over the area. We welcome anyone who wants to make the drive! If you are not from the area, we can also refer you to a Center that might be closer to you as well.
For the most accurate results, you should wait to take a pregnancy test until the week after your missed period. If you don’t want to wait until you’ve missed your period, you should wait for at least one or two weeks after you had sex. The longer you wait, the more accurate your test results will be.
A pregnancy test alone does not give you all of the information you need. An ultrasound confirms your pregnancy. Your nurse will measure the pregnancy and estimate how far along you are. This will determine what options are available to you. The nurse will then check for a heartbeat. If there is no heartbeat, it may still be very early in the pregnancy or you may be naturally miscarrying.
Yes. According to WI State Law, minors can receive our types of services without parental consent. In fact, telling them would be revealing protected medical information. If you feel comfortable, we encourage you to tell them. They may be a great source of support to you, but that decision is totally up to you. We are more than happy to talk through that with you at your appointment.
In our current location, we have very little signage out front and several different parking options. In addition to our parking lot, there is a city parking lot across from us that many others use. There is street parking in front of homes and apartments or there is parking in the very back off of the alley and you can enter through the back door. Just be sure to call us when you are here so we can let you in.
We have resources and services for parents who are expecting or current parents who are in need of material assistance or just in need of some encouragement or support. You can take classes and earn the items you need. You can also just come, take classes, enjoy a cup of coffee with our staff, and learn how to be the best parent you can be! We also will work with you to see what outside assistance we can refer you to. We want you to know you are not alone in this – you have a whole team here to walk with you on your parenting journey!
Most Planned Parenthood facilities charge for their services on a sliding scale, relying on a client’s insurance plan. For completely free services, visit Abiding Care Center. You can receive free pregnancy testing, ultrasound screenings, and STD testing and treatment. All of our services are completely confidential too.
