Your trust is important to us. When you visit Abiding Care, we want you to know your information is safe with us. We have a strict confidentiality policy and adhere to medical confidentiality practices. Your results and information are always kept private.
You weren’t planning on becoming pregnant right now and the thought of it makes your head spin. We understand where you’re at and that it can be overwhelming when you suspect that you might be pregnant. That is why we offer free and confidential lab-quality pregnancy testing and other pregnancy services to women facing unplanned pregnancies.
Pregnancy tests work by detecting the presence of the hormone associated with pregnancy, hCG in a urine sample. If hCG is detected, the test displays a positive result. During your appointment, you will be asked to provide a urine sample.
One of our nurses will then take that sample and administer the test with that sample. This usually only takes a couple of minutes and you will receive your results during your appointment.
After a positive pregnancy test, we always recommend confirming that result with an ultrasound. At Abiding Care, we provide ultrasounds at no cost to women who test positive in our center.
If you think you might be unexpectedly pregnant, you are not alone. We are here to help! Reach out to Abiding Care today to make an appointment for your free pregnancy test with one of our nurses.
Home pregnancy tests have improved over the years, but they still are not as accurate as a test in a clinic. There are several different things that can contribute to a false pregnancy test result. Not only are our lab-quality pregnancy tests 97-99% accurate, but they are administered by medical professionals.
Our nurses can tell you if it is the right time to take a pregnancy test or if it is still too early.
Your pregnancy test came back positive. You are probably thinking: “now what?” To ensure that your results were accurate, we always recommend that you have an ultrasound following a positive pregnancy test. At Abiding Care, we offer free ultrasounds to confirm your pregnancy and give you valuable information that will guide your decision-making process.
A fetal ultrasound (sonogram) is an imaging technique that uses sound waves to produce images of a fetus in the uterus.
First and foremost, an ultrasound at Abiding Care is to confirm your pregnancy. By viewing the pregnancy, you can be sure that the result of your pregnancy test was correct. The pregnancy must also be implanted inside of the uterus, or it is considered an ectopic pregnancy and is not safe to carry to term and you would be referred for immediate medical attention.
During your ultrasound, your nurse will measure the pregnancy and estimate how far along you are. This will determine what options are available to you. Your nurse will then see if there is a heartbeat. If there is no heartbeat, it may still be very early in the pregnancy or you may be naturally miscarrying.
The ultrasounds performed here are not intended to replace prenatal care, but only to assist you in verifying and confirming pregnancy.
After an ultrasound, you are ready to begin considering your options. At Abiding Care, our staff is here to educate, answer questions, and discuss all your options with you. Your decision-making process is going to be unique to you, but we want you to have all the information you need to make an informed choice.
If you’re saying, “It will never happen to me,” think again. Anytime you’re sexually active, you’re at risk of getting a sexually transmitted disease (STD). Unfortunately, they are more common than you realize. Because you or your partner may not experience any symptoms in the beginning, you may not know if either of you is infected. Without treatment, an STD can lead to serious health problems, so it’s important to partake in STD testing regularly.
STDs are passed from one person to another through the exchange of bodily fluids and/or skin-to-skin contact such as during sexual intercourse. You can get an STD from vaginal, anal, or oral sex.
Even if you and your partner use condoms, you can never eliminate the possibility of getting an STD. Your risk is greater if you:
According to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control), the rate of people contracting STDs is increasing rapidly. You need to recognize the symptoms and act immediately to get the necessary treatments.
Although many STDs are curable, some are not. It’s important to know what signs to look for. If you’re experiencing any of these, visit our clinic as soon as possible to meet with a qualified staff member.
Unfortunately, there are several different types of STDs. Chlamydia often has no symptoms at all but is a bacterial infection that can be cured with antibiotics. Some STDs such as genital herpes, syphilis, and HPV (Human Papillomavirus Infection), can cause warts or painful sores on your body. Others, such as gonorrhea can eventually cause infertility. HIV/AIDS interferes with the body’s ability to fight infections. These are just a few of the many types of STDs. Without testing, you won’t know what type of infection you have and what treatment to begin.
It’s important to protect your sexual health. Many STDs have life-long consequences if left untreated. Your health and that of your partner is important to us. We offer many free services to help. Visit Abiding Care for your free, confidential testing. It’s quick and easy.

Parenting is hard work, even in the best of situations. But what do you do if your situation isn’t the best? Or maybe you just feel alone in the struggle as a single parent and could use someone in your corner. Here are some examples of why people utilize our program:
Whatever the situation, we believe each parent deserves the support and help needed to give their children the best home life they can.
Our Family Resource Program is a service to come alongside parents in their parenting journey. Our goal is to help parents provide a safe, stable, and healthy home life for children to flourish in. There are 3 main ways in which we help:
Q. How are the classes done—are they group or one-on-one?
A. This program is one-on-one. However, we always encourage dads to participate. We do offer from time to time some group classes as well, but that is separate from this program.
Q. I have a 3 year old and I can’t always find a sitter, can I bring them along?
A. Absolutely! We have the play area exactly for that reason!
Q. I heard I can come here and get a car seat—is that true?
A. Yes—through our Earn While You Learn program. You will earn points at each class, which we will keep track of. Once you reach the total needed for your item, you may take it home. You can also work towards multiple items.
Q. My whole life is a hot mess, much less my parenting—can you help with that?
A. That’s what the intake appointment is for. We know that if you are facing eviction or domestic abuse, just watching some parenting videos isn’t going to cut it. We want to help you get to a better place, so that’s why we take the time to get the full picture. But there is hope in every situation and if you are willing to do the work, we are willing to guide you there!
Q. Is there a cost to this program?
A. Never! Just your time and effort. We fundraise year-round to provide all of our services at no cost.
The program now runs for a minimum of 6 weeks but you can keep going for as many 6 week intervals as you like.
At Abiding Care, we recognize that knowledge is power. Our professional staff of registered nurses is here to sit down with you and share it with you.
If you were not planning on becoming pregnant at this point in your life, it is likely that you don’t know much about it. Our nurses understand that you will have a lot of questions. They are here to listen and educate without judgment. Our goal is to create a safe place for you to learn the facts about pregnancy and your options.
When it comes to your unplanned pregnancy, you have options. We believe in providing you with accurate and up to date information about all of your pregnancy options- including adoption, parenting, and abortion. Again, our goal is to create a safe place for you to learn facts. We understand that it is your choice, but we can be here to support you in any way we can.
If you are sexually active, you are at risk of contracting sexually transmitted infections/diseases.
Any sort of sexual contact with an infected person can transmit disease or infection- including oral, anal, vaginal, or any skin to skin contact in the genital area. Even if you used protection, there is still a risk.
Our nurses discuss the risks of STI/STDs and when you should be tested. Make an appointment today to learn more about STI/STDs as well as the risks and symptoms.
At Abiding Care, we want to help you learn in a way that is relevant to your unique situation. Reach out and make an appointment today to speak with one of our registered nurses. These are just a few of the many referrals we can make, so please let us know of any other needs you may have!
For women that decide adoption or parenting, we refer them to doctors in the area to continue their pregnancy care. We work to make sure that pregnancy care is available and accessible to women who come through our center.
If you are in a situation where you might need extra support, then we can offer referrals for social services to help you provide for yourself, and if you decide to parent, potentially your child. It can seem intimidating to enroll in any of these programs, so our staff is here to help you get that process started if you qualify.
If you are facing an unplanned pregnancy and are in need of housing, we can help. Whether you do not have a stable or healthy environment or were removed from your previous home due to your pregnancy, we can help you. We offer referrals to housing options for women facing unplanned pregnancies. We want you to feel safe and secure during your pregnancy.
